Portland and stuff

It's been a bit since I've done a blog update. Anyhow I just got back from Portland for a Health Net Twilight Crit. If the name doesn't give a clue the team needed to win this one. I attacked off the front with around 15 laps to go and stuck it for a solo vic. Doug jumped off the front on the last lap and took second. Hartley was third after chopping Kirk and almost crashing him. Chopping the just recent national crit champ isn't really a great idea but maybe he didn't know it was him. Kirk was still 4th and Roman rolled in with 10th. Anyhow, for flying across country Thursday, race Friday, and flying back Saturday it was a pretty cool weekend. I have to say that Portland is one of the coolest towns I've been too in a long time. We spent some time downtown Friday night and it was going off. Really cool town.

Please have Mr. National Champion Kirk provide his mailing address so I can personally send him $100 so he can stop crying. The fact of the matter is that he got Fourth, which is not Third, and surely isn't First-which I assume the national champion could achieve while racing in Portland.
Also, you are right, Portland is a great City-worth considering moving too-thanks for coming.

congrats on the win, but i find it amazing that while off the front solo, you could still see what happened so far behind you. strange. we as bike racers should know that, unless we see it, 2nd and 3rd hand reports are worthless and biased. just my 2 cents...

Do you ride with one of those sweet little mirrors attached to your helmet? That would explain everything. I'm in awe you have the skills to watch behind while winning such a tough sprint.

Congrats on your win!

it's funny how everyone remains anonymous, but yet still wants to voice their opinion-a jealous one at that! Hmm, wonder how he knows what's going on behind him-maybe his teammate??? Check it, folks-geez

I thought I'd check your team's website to see how you'd done in Portland after we talked about the race on the plane to Denver last week. You won!!! Congrats, that is so sweet. It was great to talk to you on the plane, what an opportunity for a random cycling fan. Good luck in the future-

nice to see that keyboard know-it-alls find it onto blgos too.... I see a tad bit-o-irony from one unamed "person" (???).

good job! that race looked brutal. Good thing us on the sidelines to kill the pain had beer and a painted bedsheet.

murph - don't know what the heck all the drama is about on your little commentary thing here... folks: murph is about the most laid back yet professional dudes in the US of A so please quit the belly-aching.

congrats on a sweet win. to quote todd, man-style for sure. -- nate

It was a really, really fun race for us fans to watch. I thought everyone on the podium deserved to be there, but that's just from where I was sitting. It's a shame to see so much arguing over 3rd place. I wish you guys could act like the professionals that you are and get past this. Hopefully you all end up on a team together one day and have to deal with one another.
